GARDEN PLAIN – Activities director for Garden Plain High School, Cory Brack, is departing the Owls for a position with the Wichita West Pioneers in the Wichita School District. Brack will be an assistant principal and athletic director for the Pioneers.

Pools ready for summer season

Memorial Day weekend is almost here, and that generally means the opening of community pools for the summer. Saturday is the opening day for three pools: Cheney, Clearwater and Haysville.

May Queen Crowned: During the chapel period on Wednesday, the junior high selected its May Queen, chancellor, and attendants. The queen will be crowned during the allschool chapel on Friday, May 28. The election went as follows: May Queen, Dorothy Hoskins; chancellor, Orbie Estelle; attendants, Virginia Moyer, Gary Millsap, Betty Jane Swan, Bill Thomas, Thelma Hanky, Merle Crowe, and Orpha John.

8 Years Ago On May 12, colleagues, students, family, and friends gathered at Haysville United Methodist Church to remember Kim Hall. A first-grade teacher at Nelson Elementary School, Hall fought against terminal liver cancer for more than a year, undergoing treatments and dealing with symptoms while continuing her 38-year career as an educator in Haysville’s public schools.
