Don L. Rhodes, 92, of Argonia, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Spring View Manor, Conway Springs.

Don was born April 13, 1932, in Argonia to Merle Ray “Deke” Rhodes and Helena Meta (Sipult) Rhodes. He grew up in the Argonia community, attending a nearby rural school before attending the Argonia public school. He graduated from Argonia High School with the class of 1952. Don went to work at Boeing Aircraft for two years prior to working in the construction of the Kansas Turnpike.

Don was united in marriage to Ruth Caroline Berry on Nov. 29, 1958, at the United Methodist Church, Argonia. They made their first home on a farm north of Argonia before moving to 416 Garfield in Argonia in 1972, where they raised their family of four children: Dennis, Randy, Tammi and Dona.

Don worked as a custodian for USD 359 at the Junior High School before working at Argonia High School. He retired in 1994 after 30 years. He also worked wheat harvest for the McCoy family and worked at the Argonia United Methodist Church, taking care of the lawn and locking and unlocking the church doors as needed.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three siblings, Glenn Rhodes, Steve Rhodes and Angela Turner; two infant brothers; and one son, Dennis Rhodes.

Don was a member of the Argonia United Methodist Church, was involved in the local Boy Scout troop and was a volunteer at the Drury Dam Park.

He is survived by three children, Dona Jones and Tammi Rhodes of Argonia, and Randy Rhodes of Dallas, Texas; one half-sister, Pat Hill of Wellington; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Argonia United Methodist Church. Interment was in Argonia Cemetery, Argonia.
