Donald Eugene O’Neal
Donald Eugene O’Neal, 63, formerly of Conway Springs, passed away at his daughter’s home on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024.
Don was born Oct. 19, 1961, in Wichita to Herald Millard “Pete” O’Neal and Carol Margaret (Erker) O’Neal. He grew up on the family farm northeast of Conway Springs, and attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Conway Springs public schools. He graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1980.
Don was united in marriage to Amy Renee Haehn in 1992 and to this union two children were born, Brandon in 1993 and Sydney in 1997.
Don began working for Continental Airlines at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport as a ramp service technician. He was eventually promoted to supervisor before the company departed Wichita. Ten years later, Don worked for J. R. Wamsley Sandblasting before establishing H&O High Output Body Shop with his partner, Mitch Holland, in Conway Springs. From 2007 to 2009, he was employed at Cessna Aircraft before working for K-Doll in Conway Springs. The past two years, he had farmed with his son near Yates Center.
Don was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs, and had served on the board for Rural Water District No. 5.
He is survived by one son, Brandon O’Neal of Yates Center; one daughter, Sydney Miller (Zach) of Rose Hill; his parents, Pete and Carol O’Neal of Conway Springs; two brothers, Kent O’Neal of Yates Center, and Rod O’Neal (Laura) of Conway Springs; three sisters, Pamela O’Neal, Jennifer Walker (Cory) and Therese O’Neal, all of Wichita; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs, with Father Kyle Dugan as celebrant. Inurnment will be private in Turkey Creek Cemetery, Yates Center.

A memorial has been established with Home Health and Hospice of Kansas as Don’s family is thankful for their special end of life care.
