Patricia A. Solter
Patricia A. Solter, 92, passed away Monday evening, April 7, 2025, at her home in Conway Springs.
Pat was born Nov. 21, 1932, at Harper to David John Wagner and Eleanor (Weekly) Wagner. She attended Stanley Elementary school in Wichita before attending elementary schools in Harper and Arkansas City. She returned to Wichita and attended Franklin and McCormick elementary schools before attending years 7, 8 and 9 at Allison Junior High. She later attended Conway Springs high School and graduated with the class of 1950.
Pat was united in marriage to Jack Lee Solter on July 22, 1951, at Conway Springs, and to this union three children were born, Jack, Jr., David and Chrissy.
Pat and Jack worked together for many years of their life. They began operating two bowling lanes with Pat’s dad in Wichita and later became an authorized Kelvinator Warranty Service Center, known as Solter’s Appliance Service. Together they repaired for more than 30 stores in the Wichita area.
Jack and Pat returned to Conway Springs in 1965 and built a new home at 120 W. St. Louis. In 1973, they established a refrigeration door business, known as Solter’s Cold Storage Doors. Together, they manufactured refrigeration doors for the next 26 years for International Cold Storage. The couple retired in 2006. Jack passed away Jan. 20, 2018.
Pat was a member of the Conway Springs Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Dorcus Chapter #151 Order of Eastern Star. She was a charter member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and served as a den mother for the local scout troop. Pat bowled in the International Women’s Bowling Tournament and enjoyed painting and art projects. She was active in attending Midian Shrine events with Jack and volunteered in many capacities throughout the years.
Pat and Jack were long-time members of the Conway Springs Chamber of Commerce. They were a major part of the “behind the scenes” of the annual Conway Springs Fall Fest parade by hosting and serving the many Midian Shrine Unit members before and after the parade for many years.
Pat and Jack enjoyed traveling, boating and water skiing, and especially their time share at Kimberling City, Mo. Pat also became a “walker” more than 30 years ago, and walked many miles religiously over the streets of Conway Springs.
Pat also was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Kay Ayala; one grandson, Teddy Stuhlsatz; and her daughter, Chrissy Solter.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Solter, Jr., and wife Tammy of Conway Springs, and David Solter and wife Brenda of Choctaw, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral service was conducted at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 11, at Conway Springs Methodist Church, Conway Springs. Interment was in Conway Springs Cemetery.
