Body

Roberta Ann Cole, 74, passed away at her home in Wichita, on Monday, July 15, 2024.
She was born at home, on the farm, to Robert and Marjorie Stokes on May 24, 1950, in Flemington, Mo. She attended the Weaubleau Christian Church as a girl, where she accepted the Lord at a young age. She graduated from Weaubleau High School in 1968 and moved to Kansas in 1969 to find work.
Roberta married Billy Cole in Wichita on June 12, 1969. Billy was called to serve in Vietnam soon after they were married.
Together Roberta and Billy had two children, Matt and Samantha. Roberta was a machine operator at Wescon Products for more 32 years. She started in September of 1972 on third shift with a newborn baby boy at home, but Billy was great at being Mr. Mom when she was at work. Roberta was a part of the Red Hat Society, and later when her group disbanded, they formed another group called Cheney Chums.
She also was a part of the Monday’s Club, and a Bible study group at her church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Cheney. Roberta enjoyed chickens, and she had a house full of chicken décor. She also collected Cherished Teddies, and loved red birds. George Strait was an all-time favorite; Billy took Roberta to see George every time there was a concert in the Wichita area. Roberta loved to go shopping, attending Home Interior, Pampered Chef and Princess House parties.
Roberta experienced chronic pain from numerous back surgeries and a neck injury, but she outwardly showed love to others through her laugh, her gifts and precious handwritten cards and notes. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marjorie Stokes.
Roberta is survived by her husband, Billy Cole; son, Matt (Kari) Cole; daughter, Samantha (Dale) Price; grandchildren, Branda Cole, Jacob Cole, Noah Cole, Jesse (Allysa) Crawford, Michael Price, Tamela Price, Marissa Price, and Cooper Price; great-grandchildren, Aurora and Atlas Crawford; sisters, Nina Hughes, Genny (Jerry) Layton, and Mildred (Earnest) Patoon; brother, Clayton (Karen) Stokes; nieces,  Cindy McElwee, Amy Charlton, Lisa Gregory, Melissa Woods, Kelsey Smith, and Charlee Stokes; and nephew Joel Stokes.
The family will be greeting friends during the visitation to be held on Saturday, July 20, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Wulf-Ast Mortuary in Garden Plain.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cheney on Monday, July 22, at 10 a.m. followed by interment at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Cheney.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences may be left at www.wulfastmortuary.com.
