'Life's been good to me so far'

Body Two weeks ago I noted a special night for Kim and me as I took her to go see one of my favorite bands from many years back. On Saturday night, we had a similar experience, this time with the Vets Aid Concert spearheaded by none other than Joe Walsh of the Eagles.

Kansas needs a rural Waymo option

Body I'm not sure how familiar people in this part of the world are with Waymo, the driver-less, autonomous “robotaxi” company created by Google. I've seen these when visiting the West Coast, especially in and around San Francisco.
Travel to western Kansas could be a lot easier with an autonomous car company like the fictional Moober (or Müber).

Full steam ahead for fall harvest

Body After a stop-and-go start to fall harvest because of weather and breakdowns, we’ve finally found our groove in November. The wheat is now in the ground; the cattle have been sent off to winter pasture and the clear and sunny days have allowed us to keep the combines in the fields.

An anniversary date, times two

Body Kim and I got our anniversary weekend started a little bit early with a concert on Thursday night a week ago. A band that I've been a fan of for almost five decades now, Asleep at the Wheel, was back in town for a concert at The Cotillion.
Asleep at the Wheel lead singer Ray Benson put on a show to remember last Thursday night.

My fashion choices fall a bit short

Body Even if fashion has turned its proverbial posterior away from wearing knee-length shorts in public, I am a traditionalist who embraces the items still hanging in my closet—all of which are at or below the knee.

Reliving my days on the sidelines

Body I got a unique opportunity this past Friday night to be back on the sidelines of a high school football game, thanks to my musically talented grandson. That doesn't immediately sound like it makes any sense, but it actually does.

Soup season has arrived

Body It seems to have taken longer than usual for fall to arrive this year. Finally, the predominate winds have shifted to the north, bringing the cooler temperatures with them. Soon those winds will carry a killing frost with them sending much of the natural world into dormancy.

Make home safer and accessible as you age

Body Dear Savvy Senior, What simple tips can you recommend for making a home age friendly? My husband and I are in our late-sixties and want to remain living in our home for as long as possible.
