SUMNER COUNTY – Kansas Star Casino has announced that it will unveil the new Star Market Food Hall this month. The food hall will feature four fast-casual dining brands with 140 seats.
SUMNER COUNTY – Cowley College’s recent hire, Zach Cooper, has been appointed the director of Cowley College Sumner Campus. With a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in career technical education from Pitt State, Cooper is currently undertaking a PhD program with Oklahoma State University in agricultural education.
SUMNER COUNTY – The Sumner County 4-H Council will hold a cookie jar auction during the Wheat Festival Picnic in The Park The picnic will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 10. The 4-H Council will use the funds from this auction to help conduct 4-H activities during the 4-H year. Each of the Sumner County 4-H clubs will enter a Cookie Jar in the 4-H Fair.
ARGONIA – It's homecoming week at Argonia schools. The Argonia Raiders take on the Flinthills Mustangs this Friday, starting with girls varsity at 6 p.m., followed by boys varsity.
TSnews Between the constant drought and lack of rain, fall harvest was disappointing for area producers. According to Sumner County Extension agriculture agent Randy Hein, the rain that negatively impacted wheat crops gave mixed results to fall crops, and it was not enough for many producers to offset the lack of rain.
