I was recently given the opportunity to speak to the Newton Kiwanis about the many projects I have been working on at the newspaper. We enjoyed a great lunch and good conversation before I spent a bit talking about my job, including my over 10-year expedition into writing this column.
This cake is made with only four ingredients—yogurt, eggs, vanilla extract and cornstarch. It’s a lightly sweet dessert that pairs well with fruit, honey or maple syrup and has a consistency a bit like a custard.

Bridge over turnpike to close

SUMNER COUNTY – A Kansas Turnpike Authority project on the U.S. 166 bridge over I-35/ Kansas Turnpike will soon close U.S. 166 at the bridge and result in a detour. This is at the South Haven Exit, just north of the Oklahoma border.

Wheatland Electric voting to begin

Members of Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc., will receive ballots by mail later this month to vote for trustees for the first time in cooperative history. Ballots will be mailed March 29 and must be returned by mail by April 19, which is at least five days prior to this year’s annual meeting on April 24, as established by cooperative bylaws.

CSHS to present ‘Grimm’ show

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – This weekend, theater students at Conway Springs High School will present “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculation,” written by Don Zolidis. The show will be staged at 7 p.m.

Schools attend theater workshop

More than 250 high school students attended the 35th annual Sterling College Theatre Workshop last week. The event included two workshop sessions and a special matinee performance of the play “Baskerville.” Students from 18 schools from Lawrence to Liberal attended.
