To start its Christmas party, the Conway Springs 4-H Club gathered at Spring View Manor on Dec. 2, where they decorated outside with the wooden trees they made previously at a project night, candy canes, and other decorations. The club did this to spread holiday cheer, to give the residents something nice to look at, and to make the residents feel like people care about them.

CHENEY – The students at Cheney Middle School are the Kansas champions of the statewide vocabular bowl for the fall 2023 season. Principal Ron Orsak explained that all 176 students in the building, covering grades 6-8, participated in the online competition.

ARGONIA – The KAY Club at Argonia High School is holding a food drive. The drive, which started on Tuesday, will run through next Wednesday.

CLEARWATER – The annual Santa’s Night of Lights parade will take place on Sunday evening. Follow Santa in your car throughout Clearwater as he leads the roughly 30-minute parade by some of the city’s best-decorated houses.

CHENEY – There will be a commodity distribution this Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The distribution will take place at the Cheney Senior Center, 516 N.

HAYSVILLE – The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has awarded the City of Haysville the cost share grant for the South Broadway Pedestrian Pathway Project. The announcement came from Gov. Laura Kelly’s office on Nov. 28.

MILTON – Charles H. Dick of Milton has been flying airplanes for more than 50 years.
