On the hunt...

Winners have been chosen in the TSnews Easter coloring contest. The top winners chosen were Isabella Schauf, age 6, of Wichita; Josie Lehner, age 6, of Cheney; and Johnny Williams, age 6, of Cheney. Honorable mention went to Adrian Lange, age 4, of Conway Springs; and Christopher Conley, age 5, of Haysville. All winners received an Easter basket with candy and other prizes. We thank all the young people who entered, and extend our gratitude to the sponsors who make the contest possible. Watch for our Fourth of July coloring contest, coming this summer.

Americans may view April as tax season, but Kansas State University family resource specialist Elizabeth Kiss says it can also be a springboard to plan for financial success. In fact, in the U.S., April is recognized as Financial Literacy Month.

Student sets record for four-finger pushups A 21-year-old college student in China set a new world record for four-finger pushups on April 11, doing 22 pushups in one minute. Zhang Yuxuan even clapped his hands between each pushup, according to the UPI Odd Newsletter.

Melissa Haney, a science teacher at Explorer Elementary School in Goddard Unified School District 265, and Joanna Farmer, an agriculture teacher at Southeast High School, Wichita USD 259, were named Region 4 finalists for the 2024 Kansas Teacher of the Year award during an awards ceremony on March 25 in Wichita. This award recognizes excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms of the state.
