Clearwater moves toward taking over area cemeteries

CLEARWATER – At its meeting on March 28, members of the Clearwater City Council gave an informal thumbs-up to plans to dissolve the Clearwater Cemetery District and turn the job of maintaining and running local cemeteries over to the city of Clearwater.

Goddard council discusses paving Tanganyika entrance road

GODDARD – During Monday evening’s Goddard City Council meeting, council members discussed plans to pave Hawkins Lane, the road leading up to the public entrance of Tanganyika Wildlife Park. The road has always been unpaved, and that has come to seem more and more out of place as Tanganyika has attracted an increasing number of visitors over the years, city staff said.

Vinita Cemetery to hold meeting

Argonia approves use of rodeo arena for barrel races

ARGONIA – Barrel races will be coming to the Argonia Rodeo Arena, located at River Park on the banks of the Chikaskia River. An agreement was approved at Monday's Argonia City Council meeting between the city and Payson and Justice Hedlund.

The current cool period is perfect for starting strawberry plants in Kansas, said Kansas State University horticulture instructor Cynthia Domenghini. She said mother plants should be set from mid- to late March in southern Kansas and late March to mid-April in northern Kansas, when soil temperatures are between 65-80 degrees Fahrenheit.
