Conservation piece from a 2-year-old

Body
Among the many talents that a 2-year-old might develop – stacking things, evading bedtime or conducting detailed research on the structural integrity of an ant hill – my grandson, Liam, is following a far more distinguished path.

Two peas in an unusual pod

Body
From the Editor’s Files I was out in the front yard on Sunday, spraying dandelions and minding my own business, when a car pulled up and someone started climbing out of the passenger seat. The first thing I saw as the passenger worked his way out of the car was the huge, black sling he was wearing on his arm.

‘Flake’ it ’til you make it with easy crescent roll bread

Body
One of my favorite forums or “sub-reddits” on the social media site Reddit is called “Breadit.” Anyone who has read this column for any length of time probably assumes I like it for the pun (and, yeah, I totally do), but I also adore seeing all the amazing baked goods people create and share with the group. Breadit has made me really want to try making a loaf of challah, a beautiful braided loaf from the Jewish tradition, at some point.
