HAYVILLE – Michelle Sandy of Haysville, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Sandy was initiated at Pittsburg State University.

Some wonderful friends of ours hosted Joey and me this past weekend while we were on a trip to speak to some college students. We were treated to a great time, fabulous food and amazing company, getting to break bread with a lot of their friends while we were there.

Ingredients 1 pound linguine pasta 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 tablespoons butter, divided 1 small onion, diced 1/2 pound fresh asparagus, cut into half-inch pieces 10 ounces grape or cherry tomatoes 1 cup vegetable stock or dry white wine 8 cloves garlic, diced 1 pound uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined 2 teaspoons dried basil 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes salt and pepper, to taste 2 cups loosely packed fresh spinach, cut into ribbons.

Start boiling your linguine according to package directions to cook it al dente. While the pasta cooks, in a very large skillet, heat the olive oil and one tablespoon butter over medium heat.

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – Winter homecoming will take place on Friday night at Conway Springs High School. The Cardinals basketball teams will host the Medicine Lodge Indians.

Four local students have earned honors at Washburn University during the fall 2023 semester. Lynsey Van Metre of Goddard was named to the president’s list.

TSnews CLEARWATER – Winter Royalty will take place this Friday at Clearwater High School. The Winter Royalty queen candidates are Ella Berntsen, Alli Clevenger, Eva Lewis and Elizabeth Tjaden.
