TSnews HAYSVILLE – The Haysville City Council, in a close vote at Monday’s meeting, decided not to pursue requests for proposals for a franchised trash service. The vote came after 21 people from a standing room only crowd addressed the council for nearly an hour during a public hearing.

TSnews GARDEN PLAIN – At its meeting on July 5, the Garden Plain City Council hired the Kirkham Michael engineering firm to start the planning process for a sewage lagoon system that will replace its current sewer plant. The need for a change was highlighted by a “very big mess” at the plant on the day of the meeting.

Following is next week’s menus for Friendship Meals and Meals on Wheels in both Sedgwick County and Sumner County. A change was made recently, and there are now different menus for Sedgwick County and Sumner County.

Staff Report TSnews ARGONIA – The Argonia City Council approved spending $15,198 for a new computer with integrated controls for the city water plant. The previous computer quit running.

Davis Williams of Haysville won Saturday's Run to Cheney 5K race at the Sedgwick County Fair. Williams’ time was 18:01.4. He also placed second in the 1-mile race. Amy Driskill from Haysville was 8th overall and 4th among women in the 8-mile race from Garden Plain to Cheney.
