130 Years Ago A fire destroyed a granary, 10 tons of hay, 196 bushels of rent wheat, 50 bushels of wheat, two wagons, two header boxes loaded with corn, and other contents of the building at the Wm. Whitmer home four miles west of here in Kingman County last Friday night.

9 Years Ago Ruth Clark died last week at the age of 89. Clark was a beloved teacher who was honored in 2000 as the namesake of Haysville's Ruth Clark Elementary.

From October 1943 St. Joseph’s parochial school, which has an enrollment of 125 pupils in eight grades, inaugurated a hot lunch program in the school Monday. The lunchroom is in charge of Mrs. Waldo Gilges, assisted by Miss Betty Lou Friess.
