Insight It’s hard to see a yellow school bus and not think about all the hours of my childhood spent sitting on one of those hard seats with a stiff back. I hope the modern versions have a little more comfort than the utilitarian transportation I had to ride uphill both ways.

Beck wins Helen Norris Memorial Scholarship

TSnews Conway Springs High School graduate Brooke Beck’s college years will be a little easier, thanks to the generosity of the Sumner County Farm Bureau Association. Beck is the winner of this year’s $1,000 Helen Norris Memorial Scholarship, which she was awarded at the association’s annual meeting in August.

False fall ends, but real fall just around the corner

TSnews It appears that rumors of summer’s demise in the area might have been a bit exaggerated. After a recent stretch of cooler- than-normal temperatures prompted speculation that fall had arrived early – highs last weekend were in the 70s and nighttime lows were in the 50s – temperatures began to warm into the 80s earlier this week, with lows creeping back into the 60s.
