Conway Springs, Argonia team up on new baseball, softball teams TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – A new era of sports will launch on Thursday when the Conway Springs-Argonia (CSA) Reds take the field against the Marion Wildcats It will be the first baseball game in school history for both Conway Springs and Argonia, which are teaming up in a new cooperative program. The softball team will play its inaugural doubleheader on Monday at the El Dorado Wildcats.

Playoff run highlighted by semifinal comeback A slow start, early foul trouble and offensive struggles throughout the game were contributing factors in the Cheney Cardinals’ 59-37 loss to the Goodland Cowgirls in Saturday’s Class 3A State championship, played at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. The Cardinals were trying for their third State title.

The Cheney girls started Friday’s Class 3A State semifinal game in the worst way, but ended it in the best – with a 58-49 victory over the Phillipsburg Panthers. That victory put the Cardinals into the 3A championship for the second time in three years.

The Cheney Cardinals girls basketball team opened the 3A State tournament with an impressive 65-48 victory over the Eureka Tornadoes on Wednesday afternoon at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. Eureka drew first blood with a 3-point shot.
