GARDEN PLAIN – Main Street in Garden Plain will be closed midday this Thursday for a school event. Garden Plain Elementary is hosting its Careers on Wheels event.

HAYSVILLE – Sterling Gaston-Chapman of Wichita, a Campus High School graduate, was one of three players on the Angelo State University Rams basketball team to earn All-Lone Star Conference awards for the 2024-25 season.

A weed commonly found in Kansas lawns can sure make homeowners feel pretty crabby this time of year. But applying an herbicide at the right time can help alleviate crabgrass problems, said Kansas State University horticulture expert Cynthia Domenghini.

A man from Goddard died last Friday after being struck on a highway in Wichita. Joel Troyer, age 69, was driving south on Interstate 135 when he apparently lost some cargo and stopped in traffic to get it.

GARDEN PLAIN – Entries are being accepted for the Garden Plain Chamber of Commerce’s Fourth of July button design contest. The deadline for the contest is next Wednesday, April 16.

CHENEY – Cheney High School has named its members for the 20025 football cheer squad and the 2025-26 basketball cheer squad. The football cheer member are Addison Bearley, Landyn Meyer, Ashlyn Satterlee, Kenadi Thome, Brynn Wyatt, Lyndie Burdick, Ella Gregory, Carter Pipkin, Aubrie Webster, Emmerson Bearley, Tori Rosenhagen and Presley Young, and alternate Ruby Meyer.
