Ingredients 1 pound ripe tomatoes, quartered 1 small white onion, chopped 6 cloves garlic 1 teaspoon salt 3 cups chicken or vegetable broth 3 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil 2 cups white rice 4 sprigs fresh Italian parsley, chopped 2-3 tablespoons pickled jalapeno slices 3/4 cup carrots, diced (fresh or frozen) 1/2 cup peas (fresh or frozen) 1/2 cup corn (fresh or frozen) Add the tomatoes, onion, garlic and salt to a food processor or blender, and blend it until the mixture is smooth. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large liquid measuring cup.

Staff report TSnews CHENEY – A long-awaited press date has finally arrived for the staff at Times-Sentinel Newspapers. This week, the football keepsake book chronicling the undefeated 2023 season and State Championship title for the Cheney Cardinals officially went to press.
The Cheney football keepsake book, “Carry the Boat: The Story of a Perfect Season,” has been sent to the printer.

Cheney approves plans for new swimming pool

TSnews CHENEY – The Cheney City Council has approved plans for a new swimming pool that will be located north of the current facility in Swimming Pool Park. The action was approved at the council’s April 9 meeting.

CONWAY SPRINGS – Two students have been named as the February artists of the month at Conway Springs High School. Ryleigh Bell, a sophomore and Art 2 student, was chosen for her colored pencil drawing called “Stay Awake.” It is on display throughout April at Conway Springs City Hall.

New time clock system being considered by City of CS

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – A new “time clock” system called Connect Teams is being considered for implementation across city departments in this community. At their meeting last week, members of the Conway Springs City Council received updates from various departments on how Connect Teams is working on a test basis.
