Twin Valley has announces a $12.3 million investment in 2026 to expand and modernize broadband infrastructure across rural Kansas. The initiative includes $4.7 million in private investment by Twin Valley along with more than $7.6 million in grant funding awarded in partnership with the Kansas Office of Broadband Development (KOBD).

TSnews HAYSVILLE – Among the more outstanding features of the Haysville Community Library are the two quilts displayed at the entrance to the library's community room. The quilts, which change each month, are made by the Haysville Library Quilters, a very important part of the library's history, said Haysville Community Library director Ken Bell.

CHENEY – With the opening of the new Cheney swimming pool just a couple of months or so away, members of the Cheney City Council last took took several actions related to the project. First, the council approved $5,800 for a concrete sign.

The 2026 Swim to a Wish fundraiser at Campus High School beat its goals, raising $23,614 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri and Kansas. Campus High School raised $17,356, to beat its goal of $15,000.

GODDARD – The Goddard City Council at its meeting Monday approved a construction contract for the soon-to-be-built public works facility. Hutton will construct the new facility for a guaranteed maximum price of $3,874,110.

TSnews HAYSVILLE – The newest business in Haysville is one that also has an oldschool feel. Haysville Arcade, located at 240 N.

Kansas Reflector Melody Ellis, from Goddard, started her first business at 4 years old, and while juggling an art business and an artisan lemonade stand, she is working on her third. Ellis, the junior executive director of the Society of Child Entrepreneurs, told a committee of Kansas legislators on March 5 about Melody Paints, her venture selling drip art paintings, while testifying in favor of a bill dubbed the “lemonade stand law.” House Bill 2599 exempts minor-owned businesses from paying sales taxes on annual earnings up to $10,000, along with local taxes, licenses, permits and other government permissions.

CONWAY SPRINGS – Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc. (WEC) has announced that Community Concerns Quilting has been awarded a $1,000 grant from the WEC Sharing Success Fund to support the purchase of quilt batting and other materials used in the creation of handmade quilts for individuals and families in need.

TSnews CLEARWATER – The Clearwater City Council on March 10 awarded a $475,596 contract to Keeler Construction for a twophase expansion of the Clearwater Senior Center, the largest of several project approvals during a busy meeting that also advanced street extensions, road maintenance and plans for a shelter at Hammers Prairie Park. The senior center project, first authorized for design in June 2025, will add a total of 1,400 square feet to the facility.

CHENEY – The board of the Pioneer Cemetery in Cheney will meet next week. The meeting will be at 7 p.m.
