CHENEY – By all accounts, Cheney’s Come Home for Christmas event the first weekend in December was a huge success. The annual event is hosted by the Cheney Chamber of Commerce, and members noted at their recent meeting that every aspect of the event was noteworthy.

GODDARD – A new city park north of US-54 Highway is beginning to take tangible form after action at Monday’s city council meeting. The council approved advertising for requests for proposals for architectural services and project management for the park.

HAYSVILLE – Voting continues for the NFL Fan of the Year. Haysville resident Kelly Kennedy was named as the Kansas City Chiefs’ fan of the year earlier this season, at the season-opening Thursday night home game against the Detroit Lions.

HAYSVILLE - A total of 18 Campus High School students were pinned as new Certified Nurse Aides (CNA) on Nov. 29.

Members of the Argonia-Attica Titans football team have been named to the 8-Man Division I District 3 all-district team. Leading the way is quarterback Dalton Morrison, a senior who was named to the first team as quarterback.

McPherson College, a four-year private college located in central Kansas, recognizes its highest academic achievers in its fall 2023 honor roll and honorable mention. Alivia Lange of Conway Springs was named honorable mention.

CHENEY – Trey Bryan Patterson of Cheney was among 1,159 graduates who received degrees from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln during commencement exercises Dec. 15 and 16 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

7 Years Ago A rainy summer was rough on construction schedules for the new Haysville Activity Center, but a dry end of the year has staff looking forward to an anticipated opening in April 2017. “We’re excited for the new building and can’t wait to move in,” said recreation director Georgie Carter.

From December 1922 The Brethren, Presbyterian, Methodist, and Christian churches have planned for a splendid union service at the gym on Christmas night at eight o’clock. A program committee and committee on arrangements selected from the various churches have arranged entertainment and treats.
