CHENEY – Emergency personnel responded to a house fire in Cheney Sunday night. There were no significant injuries but the house was a total loss, according to Cheney Fire Chief Jerry Pietz.

Roughly 100 Kansas legislators and public officials were targeted last week by letters containing a suspicious white powder, according to information from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. A sample of the powder was sent to a laboratory that specializes in testing biological samples, the KBI reported, and preliminary tests were negative for “common biological agents of concern.” Additional testing is planned.
