Cheney cross country and track coach Richie Simmons has had quite a bit of success in his 22 years of coaching – and now, he's earned some nice recognition for it.

CHENEY – It didn't take long for members of the Cheney Chamber of Commerce to elect its officers and board of directors for 2026. The election took place during the Chamber's January meeting.

CLEARWATER – The first semester honor roll for the 202526 school year has been released by Clearwater High School. Students are listed on the all-A honor roll, honor roll or honorable mention.

The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) has announced that applications are now being accepted for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP). The application period runs through 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

WELLINGTON – Due to last weekend’s winter storm, the Sumner County Historical and Genealogical Society has rescheduled the presentation “America 250: Stories from the Revolutionary War.”

HAYSVILLE – The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefitting Kansas communities, has partnered with Haysville Lodge No. 112 to donate $1,600 to the Haysville United Methodist Church Feed the Homeless Program.
