Indians earn all-league wrestling

CLEARWATER – Eleven boys and six girls from the Clearwater Indians wrestling team have been named to the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League’s Division IV allleague list. First-team boys team members are Connor Stricklin (106 pounds), Kyler Houlden (132), Christian Lange (150) and Dalton Wulf (190).

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals baseball team is off to an 0-4 start after losing a pair at the Air Capital Classic last Thursday, 8-6 to Clearwater and 12-7 to Andale-Garden Plain – then dropping a twin bill at Wichita Collegiate on Monday, 6-4 and 5-4, respectively. Against Clearwater, Landry Quick drove in two runs for the Cardinals.

Goddard High attempts 'pi' world record

TSnews GODDARD – With hundreds of students on the football field at Goddard District Stadium, the Goddard High School math department attempted to set a new Guinness World Record for the most people making a pi symbol. Pi is the mathematical symbol for the number 3.14159.

Raiders collect SCBL honors

Several Argonia Raiders earned South Central Border League honors for the 2025-26 season. Lindsay Coleman and Tori Morrison were selected by coaches for the girls first team.

Local teams rack up CPL all-league honors

The Cheney Cardinals, Garden Plain Owls and Conway Springs Cardinals all earned their share of the top honors in the Central Plains League for the 2025-26 season. On the boys side, Cheney’s Quaid Thomas was named as the CPL Player of the Year after leading his team to an undefeated conference record for the second year in a row, while Logan Osner of Conway Springs was named as the CPL’s Defensive Player of the Year and Chaparral coach Corbin Hostetler was named as the league’s Coach of the Year.

Players picked for AVCTL honors

Three Campus girls and one Campus boy made the Division I all-league list. Emerleigh Cooper was named to the girls second team, while Norah Seeley and Addison Wood were honorable mention.

State champs end Raiders’ season in quarterfinals

TSnews WICHITA – The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team saw its season end against arguably the best team in Kansas last Wednesday in the Class 1A Division II State quarterfinals. The Raiders fell into an early hole and never could fully recover as they lost to the eventual State champion Linn Bulldogs 60-43 at Garvey Gymnasium.

Swathers cut down Cheney Cardinals

The Cheney Cardinals never got their offense going in a 35-21 Class 3A substate semifinal loss on March 4. The Cardinals led Hesston 6-2 after a very low-scoring first quarter, but managed just one more point in the half to fall behind 17-7 at halftime.

Tigers boys fall to Hays

The Eisenhower Tigers boys basketball team ended their season in the first round of substate play, losing at Hays 66-51. Hays came out of the gate fast in the first quarter, building up a 16-8 lead.
