TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls wrestling team opened the new year with a solid performance last weekend at the second Wichita North invite of the season. The Tigers finished 10th with 62 points, one behind ninth-place Andover and two behind eighth-place Arkansas City.

TSnews The Cheney boys basketball team’s defense played particularly well as the Cardinals beat the visiting Nickerson Panthers 83-50 last Friday. Leading by 5 points, the Cardinals outscored the Panthers 22-7 in the second quarter for a 4020 halftime lead.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians girls basketball team used a strong defensive performance to open the new year with a 43-23 win last Friday over the Arkansas City Bulldogs at Clearwater High School. The Indians (6-1) led Arkansas City 10-7 after the opening period and 20-14 at the intermission, but held the visitors to just nine points – including just two baskets, both in the third period – after the intermission as they led 33-19 going to the fourth quarter.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians boys basketball team almost rallied from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit, but ultimately fell short in a 53-48 loss to the Arkansas City Bulldogs last Friday at Clearwater High School. The Bulldogs sprinted out to a 14-4 lead after the opening period, but Clearwater battled back to tie the score at 21 by halftime.

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls went to Andale and beat the Andale Indians girls 46-39 last Friday to start the new year. The Owls’ win broke a three-game losing streak, and improved their record to 3-5.

HAYSVILLE – The Silverback Singers at Haysville West Middle School will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” at this Saturday's Wichita Thunder hockey game. The performance will take place shortly before the 6:05 p.m.

CLEARWATER – This Saturday, the Clearwater Senior Center will hold its monthly biscuits and gravy breakfast. The event will run 8-10 a.m.
