Lions shine at Dodge City Showdown

TSnews The Goddard Lions wrestling team kicked off the new year last weekend by heading west on U.S. Highway 400 and competing at the Dodge City Showdown, with several wrestlers placing high in both the boys and girls divisions.

CSHS fall to ranked Chaparral boys

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals boys basketball team ran up against one of the top teams in the state last Friday when Central Plains League rival, the Chaparral Roadrunners, came to town and came away with a 59-53 win over the Cardinals. The game was close throughout, with both teams tied at 16 after the opening period, and the Cardinals leading Chaparral, ranked 10th in this week’s Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll in Class 3A, 31-30 at the intermission and 41-39 going to the fourth quarter.

Conway Spring girls keep winning

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team continued its recent strong play as it rolled to a 55-25 win last Friday against Central Plains League rival Chaparral. The Cardinals took a 16-3 lead after the first period and led 31-15 at halftime, then extended their lead to 51-19 by the start of the fourth quarter.

Lady Colts best North

TSnews The Campus Colts topped the Wichita North Redhawks 61-35 last Thursday at Heartland Credit Union Arena, picking up their second victory of the season. The win improved the Colts’ record to 2-6.

Lady Owls continue new year win streak

TSnews The new year has been a good one so far for the Garden Plain girls basketball team. The Owls improved to 3-0 in 2026 with a pair of victories last week, including Thursday’s 45-28 win against the Arkansas City Bulldogs at Fugate Gymnasium on the Newman University campus.

Campus set to compete

The Campus Colts finally kick off the new year with a home invitational this Thursday. Diving will be at 1:30 p.m., and swim events are slated for 5:30 p.m.

Lions blend experience and youth

TSnews The Goddard Lions bowling team has a nice blend of experience and youth as it heads into a new season. On the boys side, senior Eric Sather returns after qualifying for State last season and will lead the Lions at the lanes.

Cardinals eye another successful season

TSnews Two years removed from a State runner-up finish, the Cheney Cardinals bowling team is looking for another successful season. On the boys side, three bowlers from that team – Andrew Phelps, Maddox Ayres and Riley Ayres – return from that squad, as does Cameron Eastman, who took 10th at last season’s Class 4-1A State tournament as he bowled a 662.

Three State bowlers return for EHS girls

As the new bowling season begins, the Eisenhower Tigers will be battling with three State qualifiers. Junior Jordyn Betschart missed out on a medal by just four spots at last year’s Class 5A State bowling tournament.
