Lions make noise at Newton TOC

TSnews The Goddard Lions wrestling team had some solid success at the Newton Tournament of Champions last week. Three Lions won titles last Friday and Saturday as the team finished fourth in the boys division, while on the girls side, Goddard placed four girls in the top seven last Wednesday and Thursday.

Colts girls win Clearwater Invitational

TSnews The Campus Colts wrestling team had another good performance last Saturday at the Clearwater Invitational. On the girls side, the Colts won the tournament with 217 points, 13 1/2 ahead of runner-up Abilene, while the boys took second behind host Clearwater.

Campus edges out Maize in home swim meet

TSnews In their first meet of the new year, the Campus Colts earned a home victory in a big field. The Colts battled the Maize Eagles down to the final races, edging the Eagles by a score of 393-373.

Indians shine at own Clearwater Invitational

TSnews The Clearwater Indians wrestling team found home to be sweet indeed, as the team turned in perhaps its best performance of the year last Saturday at its own Clearwater Invitational. The Indians won the title on the boys side and took third on the girls, with several wrestlers also winning individual titles as well.

Frederick’s big night lifts Cardinals over Douglass

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals boys basketball team got a huge night from Hayden Frederick on the way to a 56-47 win against Douglass last Tuesday night. Frederick scored a game-high 38 points, with 16 of those in the first quarter and 11 more in the final period.

Argonia boys win third in a row

TSnews The Argonia Raiders boys basketball team ran its winning streak to three games as it downed Sedan 46-40 last Friday night. It was the second win of the week against a South Central Border League opponent, as the Raiders beat South Haven last Tuesday.

Raiders win SCBL opener

TSnews The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team continued its winning ways on Monday night when the Raiders opened the South Central Border League Tournament with a 41-16 win over Sedan. Argonia, the tournament’s top seed, shut out Sedan in the opening period and took a 19-0 lead after one quarter, then led 31-7 at the intermission.

Argonia dominates Stafford

TSnews To say that the Argonia Raiders girls basketball team got off to a hot start in last Friday’s 58-25 win over the visiting Stafford Trojans might be an understatement. The Raiders led Stafford 34-2 after the opening period and took a 51-4 lead to the locker room in a game.

Cheney girls beat Augusta in defensive battle

The Cheney girls basketball team won a low-scoring game against the Augusta Orioles last Thursday afternoon, coming away with a 31-27 victory at Newman University’s Fugate Gymnasium. The teams were tied at 17 at halftime.
