The Clearwater Indians girls basketball team refused to be denied in the finals of the Kingman Eagle Classic last Saturday. Down by six points at the start of the fourth quarter, the Indians held the host Eagles to just two points and rallied for a 35-32 win – and the tournament title.

Cards seventh at El Dorado

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals wrestled in their first tournaments of the new season last weekend, with the boys taking seventh at the El Dorado Wrestling Tournament and their two girls competing at a tournament in McPherson. Leading the Cardinals on the boys side was Kameron Totty (106 pounds), who took third, while Cayle Mruk (132) placed fourth, Caeden Mruk (138) finished sixth and the trio of Cole Vestering (138), Colton Veach (165) and Landen Witte (175) all finished seventh.

Tigers place four in top four at Pratt

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers wrestling team had four wrestlers place in the top four – three boys and a girl – at boys and girls invites at Pratt last weekend. On the boys side, Malachi Rothenberger (150 pounds) and Abe Starnes (165) each took second last Saturday, while Blayre Cline (175) took third.

Tigers swim to fourth at Newton

TSnews The Eisenhower and Goddard swimming and diving team placed fourth in the nine-team Newton Invitational last Thursday. The Tigers and the Buhler Crusaders battled for third place, with Buhler edging Eisenhower by 3 points, 165-162.
