Body The Goddard Lions girls basketball team opened last week with a 48-38 home win over Buhler on Tuesday, then fell 47-32 at Andover Central on Friday. Head coach Jeremy Heim said his team’s tempo and pressure made the difference late against Buhler.

Body The Conway Springs Cardinals boys basketball team used a combination of stout defense and the downtown shooting of Eli Benge to down Hutchinson Central Christian 5029 in the fifth-place game of the Marion tournament last Saturday.

Body The Garden Plain Owls girls basketball team split its games last week, starting with a big 57-21 win at the Rose Hill Rockets. The Owls had a big first quarter with plenty of scoring combined with a good defense as they raced out to a 20-7 lead.

Body Garden Plain started strong in both halves of last week’s road game at Rose Hill, giving the Owls a 62-51 win over the Rockets on Dec. 9.

Body The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team used a stout defense to pull out a third-place finish at the Border Queen Tournament last Saturday, downing Central Burden 44-19 in the third-place game.

Body The Eisenhower Tigers wrestling team headed over to Butler County last weekend to compete in the Douglass Goodwill Invitational – and had a few wrestlers place high at the always-loaded event.

Body The Clearwater Indians boys basketball team not only got a final-day win at the Kingman Eagle Classic, but the Indians also hit a small milestone along the way.
