Gauna, Spangler win titles for Lions

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys and girls wrestling teams did not back down from a challenge to open the season last weekend, with the boys heading to the always-tough Gardner- Edgerton Invitational and the girls heading to the Pratt Invitational. When it was all said and done, two Lions – Oscar Gauna for the boys and Reanna Spangler for the girls – brought home titles.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians wrestled their first tournaments of the season last weekend at Pratt, with the girls wrestling last Friday and the boys competing the next day. When it was all said and done, the boys finished ninth and the girls placed 10th.

TSnews The Campus Colts girls wrestling team made quite the impression in its first tournament of the season last weekend as it won the Valley Center Girls Invitational. The Colts won the tournament with 214 points, 33 more than runner-up Derby.

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team came painfully close to rallying from a big deficit in last Friday’s season opener at Medicine Lodge. Down by as many as 20 points at one time and trailing by 12 points at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Conway Springs battled back before falling 49-48 to the host Indians in the debut of new head coach Brett Gunderson.
