Conway Springs girls take third at Marion

Body The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team held the hosts to just 11 points in the final three periods to pull away for a 54-25 win last Saturday in the third-place game of the Marion tournament.

Raiders take second at Border Queen

Body The Argonia Raiders boys basketball team’s quest for a Border Queen Tournament title ran into a roadblock last Saturday. The Raiders fell into an early hole and never could dig out of it in a 48-19 loss to undefeated Central Burden in the title game of the tournament.

Pratt edges Cheney for Cardinal Classic crown

Body The Cheney Cardinals placed second in their Cardinals Classic tournament, picking up two wins before falling 51-48 to the Pratt Greenbacks in Saturday’s championship game. Pratt also held a 3-point margin at halftime, 20-17, and the teams battled closely through all 32 minutes.

Cardinals do well at Hesston

Body The Cheney Cardinals wrestling team made the trip to Hesston last weekend and had several wrestlers do well at the Hesston Invitational. On the boys side, Caeden Mruk (138 pounds) took second, while Cayle Mruk (132) took fourth and Colton Veach (165) placed fifth.

Eck wins title at Hesston

Body The Garden Plain Owls wrestling team took just seven wrestlers to last weekend’s Hesston Invitational, but that did not stop the Owls from finding success on the mat. As a team, the Owls took eighth in the boys standings and ninth on the girls side.

Miler wins title at Wellington for Indians

Body The Clearwater Indians wrestling team logged one of its busiest stretches of the year last weekend, competing at the Wellington Invitational last Saturday, at the Chase County mixer last Thursday and also sending some of its girls to the Douglass Goodwill Invitational last Friday.
