Colts stung for close loss at Valley Center

The Campus Colts’ comeback effort came up just a bit short against the Valley Center Hornets boys basketball team on Saturday afternoon, as Campus fell 66-63 on the road. At 0-5, the Colts are still looking for their first win this season despite several close calls.

Indians still seeking first win

The Clearwater Indians boys basketball team still is searching for its first win after dropping a 56-33 decision last Friday against Wellington. The Indians could not overcome a slow start as they fell behind 18-2 after the opening period and trailed 30-9 at the intermission.

Cardinals battle through ‘bad luck’ at Ellsworth

The Cheney Cardinals boys wrestling team battled through adversity and had two wrestlers take fourth at the Ellsworth Wrestling Tournament last Saturday. Parker McClellan (150 pounds) won his first three matches to make the semifinals, but was derailed from winning a title when he was sidelined by illness and ended up finishing fourth.

Cheney games rescheduled

All of the Cheney Cardinals basketball games last week were postponed. The games at Dodge City will be played this Thursday starting at 6 p.m.

Colts compete at Derby

The Campus Colts boys wrestling team headed to Derby last weekend to compete at the Derby Panther Invitational, with several wrestlers recording top-10 finishes. Leading the way for the Colts was Remington Pugh (285 pounds), who finished fifth, while Trace Van Asdale (132) placed sixth and the trio of Terence Wallace (120), Colton Feuerborn (150) and Aiden Weaver (190) each took seventh.

Maize South defeats Tigers in 2025 opener

The Eisenhower Tigers boys wrestling team kicked off 2025 with a dual against Maize South. Five Tigers picked up wins, with Skyler Copeland (132 pounds), Britton Cline (157) and Lucas Freeman (215) all winning by fall, while Blayre Cline (175) and Ethan Popp (190) all won by major decision (15-4 and 14-3, respectively).

Tigers swim at Wichita North

The Eisenhower-Goddard swim team competed on Friday and Saturday at Wichita North, placing eighth among 13 teams. Andover won the meet with 400 points, ahead of Kapaun-Mt.

Conway Springs rallies for win over Belle Plaine

The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team shook off a slow start to open 2025 with a 47-32 road win over the Belle Plaine Dragons last Tuesday. The Dragons raced out to a 12-7 lead after the opening period, but Conway Springs began to chip away from there and trailed by just one point (18-17) by halftime.

Red Demons hold off stubborn Owls

The Garden Plain Owls pushed the visiting Dodge City Red Demons to the final buzzer, but it was the Red Demons who came out on top, 66-63, in last Wednesday’s boys basketball game. The game was delayed one night because of winter weather.
