Simpson wins title for Lions at Wellington

TSnews The Goddard Lions girls wrestling team headed down to Wellington last Saturday for a tournament and had five wrestlers finish in the top five, including one champion. Leading the way for the Lions was Brooklyn Simpson (110 pounds), who won a title at the tournament.

Owls place two at Eureka

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls had two wrestlers place in the top four last weekend at the 31st Annual Eureka Invitational. Leading the way was Nate Eck (106 pounds), who finished second, while Carter Tatom (144) won a pair of matches and finished fourth.

Cards visit Osborne

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls wrestling team had two girls place in the top five when the squad competed at the Osborne Girls Invitational last weekend in northwestern Kansas. Peyton McClellan won three matches at 125 pounds to take fifth place, while Emma Arnold (130) also finished fifth.

Campus girls take second at league duals

TSnews The Campus Colts girls wrestling team showed how far it has advanced in just one season as it took second last Thursday at the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division I dual meet. The Colts downed Hutchinson 51-24, Maize South 60-13, Valley Center 54-30 and Salina South 54-36 before falling to Derby 48-28.

Shorthanded Indians wrestle well at Eureka

TSnews The Clearwater Indians wrestling team had a solid performance at the 31st Annual Eureka Invitational last weekend despite sickness depleting the Indians’ numbers. On the boys’ side, Dylan Hanna (138 pounds) took second – earning his 100th career win along the way – while Cooper Woodruff (285) was third and Kaden Bohnenblust (144) finished fifth.

Tigers shine at weekend tourneys

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers had several wrestlers at tournaments in Hays (boys) and Wellington (girls) last weekend. On the girls’ side, the Tigers competed at Wellington last weekend and Sadie Kuehn (100 pounds), Hailey Miller (125) and Ava Malone (130) all won titles, while Tori York (105), Lee’ua Lyons (110) and Kamryn Wells (140) all took second.

Tigers girls take 5th at Chanute tournament

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball team went 2-1 in their midseason tournament last week, finishing fifth in Chanute’s Ralph Miller Classic. The campaign opened on Thursday with a 54-47 loss to Coffeyville’s Field Kindley High school.

AHS boys sixth at SCBL

TSnews The Argonia Raiders boys basketball team could not overcome a rough second quarter as the Raiders fell 49-39 to the West Elk Patriots last Saturday in the fifth-place game at the South Central Border League Tournament at Cowley College in Arkansas City. The Patriots led Argonia 9-8 after the opening period, but extended their lead to 31-19 by halftime and led 46-32 by the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Owls take fifth at Rupp tourney

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls finished in the fifth place at the Adolph Rupp Invitational in Halstead, closing out the tournament with two straight wins. On Saturday, the Owls downed the Liberal Indians 59-41 in the fifth-place game.
