Two Sumner County high school students have received $1,000 scholarships from Wheatland Electric Cooperative. Faith Stuhlsatz, a senior at Conway Springs High School, and Wesley Weishaar, a senior at Argonia High School, were each awarded a scholarship on April 26 at WEC’s annual meeting and 75th-anniversary celebration in Scott City.

Staff Report TSnews ARGONIA – At Monday's Argonia City Council meeting, members of the council voted to raise admission prices for the first time in several years. Daily adult admission will be $4, and the senior and child rate will be $3.

Car Show in Conway Springs will be able to serve alcohol

CONWAY SPRINGS – At next month's car show hosted by the Stock Tank in Conway Springs, organizers will be able to serve alcohol, thanks to last week's vote by the City Council. Jim Nichols presented an update on the Stock Tank car show scheduled for June 3, 2023, with a rain date of June 4, and asked if the council would allow alcohol on Spring Avenue between 5th Street and 4th Street.

County lets burn ban expire

SUMNER COUNTY – The burn ban that had been in effect for much of April in Sumner County was allowed to expire earlier this week. The burn ban expired at noon on Tuesday.

ARGONIA – Pet owners who need to get shots for their “fur babies” have a hometown opportunity this Saturday. The City of Argonia is hosting an animal clinic from 1-2 p.m.

CONWAY SPRINGS – On Feb. 27, the annual Academic Olympics were held at Pratt Community College, and Conway Springs High School placed first overall in the small schools category.
