CLEARWATER – Organizers of the Clearwater Fall Festival are seeking a design for buttons and T-shirts for the 2026 festival. This year's theme is “Patriotic Kick in 2026.” The entry form and full rules are available on the Clearwater Fall Festival Facebook page.

GARDEN PLAIN – Entries are needed for this year's Garden Plain Fourth of July button contest. Entries need to be submitted on 8-1/2 inch by 11 inch cardstrock, with a background of blue, gray, white or red.

HAYSVILLE – The winners have been named in the sixth annual Chili Cook Off and Craft Show, hosted by the Haysville Senior Center. This year's top winner was Casland McKinley.

SUMNER COUNTY – The annual button design contest is underway for the 99th annual Sumner County Fair. This year’s theme is “Stars, Stripes and Summer Nights,” and the fair will take place July 30-Aug.

CONWAY SPRINGS – The community is invited to turn up the heat this Saturday for a great cause at the first-ever chili cook-off fundraiser for the upcoming Conway Springs Fall Festival. It is set to bring together food, fun, and friendly competition, and is planned to be an annual event.

Back before my married days, one of my favorite dishes to make for myself was a big nine-by-13-inch pan of good, old-fashioned tater tot casserole. Of course, being one person, that also meant I was dedicating one meal a day for the next week to eating plenty of leftovers.

Ingredients 1-2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 1/2 medium yellow onion, diced 1 small bell pepper, diced (any color) 1/2 cup diced mushrooms (I used baby bellas) 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded 15 ounces alfredo sauce 2 teaspoons garlic powder 2 teaspoons onion powder 2 teaspoons dried parsley 1 teaspoon dried basil 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes salt and pepper, to taste 32 ounce bag frozen tater tots 1 cup shredded mozzarella 1/2 cup shredded parmesan Directions Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Prepare a nine-by-13-inch baking dish by spraying it with cooking spray, and set it aside.
