TSnews CLEARWATER – During the Clearwater City Council meeting July 8, Crystal Walter announced her resignation from the governing body. Walter is moving out of Clearwater due to a job change.

TSnews HAYSVILLE — LoLo’s Learning Center opened a location in Haysville May 27. It is a full time Christian childcare center located at 1201 W.

TSnews HAYSVILLE – For the 10th consecutive year, the city of Haysville plans to lower its 2026 mill levy. The city council gave preliminary approval to next year’s budget at its meeting Monday.

GARDEN PLAIN – Thespians at Garden Plain High School will host a theater day camp fundraiser on July 29. The students are members of GPHS Thespian Troupe 3075.

TSnews GODDARD – The City of Goddard is moving forward with the first projects defined in its 2025-2035 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The council approved a resolution of intent at its July 7 meeting that is required before the city can issue general obligation bonds or temporary notes for the following projects: North Park development and construction, $5 million; public works facility development and construction, $5 million, and water looping and infrastructure improvements, $6 million.

TSnews CHENEY – The 2026 City of Cheney budget will exceed the state’s revenue neutral rate, which means the city intends to spend more dollars in 2026 than it will in 2025. The budget was discussed at the July 8 city council meeting, held a day earlier than normal to avoid a conflict with last week’s Sedgwick County Fair.

More than 6,700 University of Nebraska- Lincoln students have been named to the Deans’ List for the spring semester of the 2024-25 academic year. Qualification for the deans’ list varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center.

The news of Dan Carney's death has been greatly exaggerated. In a recent column by Paul Rhodes, concerning a lunch meeting he had several years ago with Dan Carney, it was noted that Carney had died two years after that meeting. That was not the case – it was Frank Carney, Dan's younger brother, who had died in 2020. We regret the error, and apologize for any problems it may have caused. The error was pointed out this past week by a close family friend, who called our newspaper office and noted that Dan Carney was still alive.

TSnews Wyatt Bracken of the Ninnescah Valley 4-H club in Clearwater was named grand champion in rabbits at the Sedgwick County Fair. He is 9 years old and has been doing rabbits in 4-H for three years.
