Following are next week’s menus for Friendship Meals and Meals on Wheels in both Sedgwick County and Sumner County. The recommended cost is $5 per meal, if you are able to pay.

GODDARD – Volunteers are needed in Goddard for kitchen help and deliveries for the Goddard Senior Center Meals on Wheels program. It takes about an hour per day.

I find that the toughest time of year to make desserts is summer. If it’s a particularly good recipe, I’m willing to heat up my kitchen by using my oven, but my problem is how the dessert will travel with the heat.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare an eight-by-eight-inch pan by lining it with foil and then spraying it lightly with cooking spray.

HAYSVILLE – The Haysville Chamber of Commerce mixer will be 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24.

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – Bids have been approved and work will start soon on improvements to the band shell in this city’s Central Park. At their meeting last week, members of the Conway Springs City Council reviewed bids and approved spending $17,550 with Clutter Construction to have the work done.
