Shane and Lindsay Nichols received the Sedgwick County Conservation District’s 2024 Urban Conservation Award, recognizing them for participating in the High Tunnel Initiative as they continued to grow River’s End Farm, their cut flower farming business located on a one-acre lot just outside of Haysville.

TSnews During the Sumner County Conservation District’s 82nd annual banquet, Karen Horton-Pfau was honored as the winner of a 2024 Grassland Award. Horton-Pfau was recognized for completing a grant-incentivized project to clear trees and brushy plants from land she owns off of Greenwich Road near Geuda Springs, restoring it to a native-grass grassland state and making it suitable for use as pasture.

TSnews Milton Blocker Farms is the winner of a Sedgwick County Conservation District 2024 Conservation Award. John Blocker accepted the award on behalf of his father, Milton, who died in October of last year at the age of 98.

TSnews Sisters Mary Oliphant and Ramona Lampe received a Sedgwick County Conservation Award, recognizing their completion of a conservation project that was begun by their late mother, Roberta Lampe. With expert advice and financial support from the Sedgwick County Conservation District, the sisters saw to the replacement of concrete structures that help control the flow of water and reduce soil erosion.

Sedgwick County Emergency Management will present its 2025 severe weather safety program across Sedgwick County in the coming weeks. The program was developed by the National Weather Service, and is designed to educate county residents about severe weather and safety.

TSnews HAYSVILLE – A death connected to a crash in Haysville last week is being investigated as a possible homicide. Haysville Police reported that, just after midnight on Friday, officers from the Haysville Police Department were dispatched to a building collapse in the 6500 block of A Street.
