Conway Springs to get bids on street projects

CONWAY SPRINGS – When it comes to the anticipation of street projects to be completed in this city, the wait is finally over. At their meeting last week, members of the Conway Springs City Council took another step forward as the council agreed to seek bids for major street work on Parallel and Spring streets, as well as streets in the northwest part of town around the football field.

From May 1912 A special meeting of the Argonia Commercial Club was called again last Monday night to talk further regarding the electric light plant and water works system, which, by the way, has gained much favor with the Argonia people. Several committees were appointed- some for canvassing different parts of the city to ascertain the cost of maintaining a water-works or light plant while others were appointed as corresponding committees for learning thoroughly what the cost would be for the maintenance of either light or water or both.

Goddard City Council scuttles trash talk

GODDARD – The Goddard city council, after hearing from just 11 residents during a public comment period, voted at its meeting Monday not to pursue a single hauler trash service. The action comes before the city developed a request for proposals or received bids for the service.

CSHS homecoming to take place Friday

Kansas tornadoes double in 2024

Preliminary results indicate 2024 was a more active year for severe weather in Kansas. Scientists at the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, are tallying last year’s severe weather reports.

Studens earn ESU honors

Emporia State University congratulates the more than 650 undergraduates named to the university honor roll for the fall 2024 semester. To qualify for the university honor roll, students earned a minimum 3.80 semester grade point average in at least 12 graded hours.

Growth at Cherry Oaks hits new level

TSnews CHENEY – Cherry Oaks Golf Course is a very good golf course, and that is an opinion that seems to be held by more and more people. In 2024, the city-owned golf course hit new records in terms of both revenue and rounds.
