TSnews CLEARWATER – With signatures from the members, the Clearwater FFA (Future Farmers of America) organization at Clearwater became official. Club members held a ceremony to sign their charter at last Friday’s home basketball games.

CONWAY SPRINGS – Two students have been named as the February artists of the month at Conway Springs High School. Troy Herndon, a sophomore and Art 1 student, was chosen for his sculpture called “Check Mate.” It is on display throughout February at Vintage Bank.

The third Monday in February is set aside for Presidents’ Day in the United States, which is actually referred to as Washington’s Birthday on the federal calendar. Washington’s birthday had always been celebrated on Feb. 22, but with the passage of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act in 1968, the holiday was moved. In fact, Washington’s birthday has not been celebrated on the actual day of his birth since the law first took effect in 1971.

Joey puts up with a lot of weird stuff when it comes to this column. The poor guy watches me put random ingredients in our shopping cart all the time and never knows what I’m going to come up with next.

Ingredients 4 cups Cheetos puffs, divided (I used a 7-ounce bag) 1/4 cup butter, softened Crush all of the Cheetos until they are fine by either smashing them in a Ziplock bag or by running them through a food processor. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter, shortening and sugar for a couple minutes until it is a light yellow.
