From January 1956 On Monday, Jan. 9, a meeting was held to discuss the building of the new Argonia grade school.

Tasty Sausage patties get cooked for more than 1,000 hungry diners at the 67th Viola Lions Club sausage supper, which was held on Feb. 3. The event drew more than 1,000 people to the quiet community. Lions Club members, with lots of volunteer help, started at 8 a.m. that day to prepare 1,000 pounds of sausage, 60 gallons of applesauce, 90 gallons of green beans and 650 pounds of potatoes. Sausage patties were prepped the night before, and desserts were cooked ahead of time.
