Thanks to the combined efforts of members, businesses, and community partners, Wheatland Electric Cooperative’s 2024 Power the Pantry campaign has raised $110,287 in cash and food donations for a dozen local food banks, including the Conway Springs Mission Mart.

From December 1933 W.A. Thew, the local Rexall druggist, installed a new soda fountain and a new electric refrigerating machine. Mr. Thew has been the druggist here for nearly 40 years during which time his advertising messages have appeared in the Star every week. He has built up and maintained in all its branches a model drug store.

From December 1940 Mrs. Ivan Bruce entertained a group of children last Friday evening at her home with a party in honor of the 10th birthday of her son, Darrel. Various games were played and refreshments of fruit salad with whipped cream and birthday cake were served. The Sedgwick County Election Office has kicked off its student design contest for the 2025 “I Voted” sticker that will be given to voters during the 2025 electoral season. The competition is open to all students in grades 6-12 who attend public, private or home schools in Sedgwick County.
