TSnews CHENEY – Four members of the Cheney High School FFA (Future Farmers of America) attended last week’s 97th annual National FFA Convention and Expo, which was held in Indianapolis. While there, the members accepted the club’s first-ever national award, the National Chapter Award.

HAYSVILLE – The long-running Living History Rendezvous is returning to Haysville this weekend. This year’s event will honor the late Cathy Hurley, who was a key organizer for many years.

GODDARD – With continued growth in and around the city of Goddard and in west Wichita, leaders at Goddard Public Schools are expecting significant growth over the coming years.

TSnews reached out to candidates in all contested general election races for positions that are regularly covered by the newspaper. The candidates in each race were asked four questions.

CHENEY – The annual Cheney Chamber of Commerce soup and chili cook-off and community pep rally will take place on Tuesday evening. Things get underway at 5:30 p.m.

CONWAY SPRINGS – A trivia night event is planned to raise money for the Conway Springs Development Foundation. The trivia night will take place 7-9:30 p.m.

Argonia Wednesday Reality U at Wellington. Cheney Thursday Bingo, 1 p.m., Cheney Senior Center.

TSnews CHENEY – At the Cheney City Council meeting on Oct. 10, couincil members approved issuing a special use permit for 106 Shadybrook.

SUMNER COUNTY – Evergy, Inc., announced on Monday that it will invest in two new 705 megawatt (MW) combined- cycle natural gas plants that will be built in Kansas. The plants are expected to begin operating in 2029 and 2030.

The police departments in Cheney and Haysville, and the Sedgwick County Sheriff 's Department, are among the many law enforcement organizations taking part in Saturday's Drug Enforcement Agency's National Take Back Day. The event is held each April and October.
