TSnews GARDEN PLAIN – During a brief city council meeting on May 3, members of the Garden Plain City Council conversed with engineers from Kirkham Michael about stormwater drainage and sewer capacity issues in the city. One Kirkham Michael study presents options for future sewer capacity expansions.

Our Home Telephone Company has completed the metallic circuit line to Wellington, and now we talk to Wellington without talking through other phones along the line. We will have a direct line to Wichita, via Clearwater, before long.

The commencement exercises of the four schools of Vinita Township will be held at Vinita Hall on May 6, commencing at 6 o’clock. The teachers, Miss Abbye Matson, Laura Butler, Maude Butler, and Mary Palmer, are closing a successful year of schoolwork.

3B’s Bar and Grill is now open at 8721 S. Broadway, in the former home of Char Broil House. Janelle Brewer, who co-owns and manages the establishment, is a firsttime small business owner who has worked previously as a bartender, including across the street at Uncle Sam’s Bar. Opening her own place represents a dream come true, she said, so she doesn’t mind working four 16-hour days every week while she grows the bar and grill’s clientele.
