Body Staff report TSnews Lake Afton, located in southwest Sedgwick County near Goddard, continues to be on the Kansas Department of Health and Environment blue-green algae warning list. It was moved to the warning list from the watch list on June 22.

Movie night at Cheney State Park

Body CHENEY – Saturday will be a movie night at Cheney State Park. There will be an outdoor showing of the classic movie, “The Sandlot,” hosted by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.

Blood donations needed in July

Body The American Red Cross continues to see a concerning trend – blood donations are being sent to hospitals faster than they are coming in. The Red Cross has collected about 50,000 fewer blood donations than needed over the last two months.

Haysville expects to lower taxes slightly in 2024

Body TSnews HAYSVILLE – When Sedgwick County mailed new appraisals of residential properties this spring, some Haysville residents responded by calling City Hall. Their concern was that higher valuations would lead to higher property taxes.

Barbecue cook-off returns to Sedgwick County Fair

Body CHENEY – The revived Sedgwick County Fair Barbecue Cook-off is back for a second year, and will be held this Saturday. Registration will take place on Friday evening, from 7 to 8 p.m., in the area west of the beef barn.
