From 1931 Lowell Redfern, a former Argonia boy who has been assistant manager of the United Stores in Wellington, the past year and a half, has been transferred to manager of the Winfield United Store and assumed his new position on Wednesday. Lowell grew to manhood in Argonia and is a graduate of the Argonia High School.

From November 1936 Joseph G. Gooch, Conway Springs’ 91-yearold Civil War veteran and president of the First National Bank, cast his vote here. Gooch has a record that very few, particularly in the Midwest, can match. Sixty-three years ago, he lived in Belle Plaine and voted there, then moved to this place where he has voted in the same precinct continuously for the last 61 years.

The Kansas Association of Schools Boards, in coordination with USD 261, is conducting an online survey to get input on the characteristics that the community would like to see in the next superintendent.
