TSnews The Goddard Lions boys wrestling team gathered some nice momentum ahead of the postseason last weekend when it took second at the Rose Hill Invitational. The Lions finished second with 202 1/2 points, 17 behind champion and host Rose Hill.

TSnews The Goddard Lions girls basketball team hosted the Campus Colts on Tuesday, Jan. 30, preventing the visitors from scoring any points during the first half and running away with a 58-16 victory.

TSnews The Argonia Raiders and the Cedar Vale/ Dexter Spartans needed more than four quarters of basketball to decide last Friday’s boys basketball game at Cedar Vale. The game went to double- overtime before CVD prevailed 50-49, sending the Raiders to their third loss in a row.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians boys basketball team hit just five field goals after halftime Monday night as the Wichita Trinity Knights pulled away in the second half for a 63-31 victory. It was the fourth loss in a row for the Indians, who dropped to 4-11.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys bowlers won Saturday’s Crusader Classic at The Alley-Hutchinson. They bowled 3317, besting Emporia (3033) by nearly 300 pints.

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team and Garden Plain Owls engaged in a closefought contest from tip to buzzer last Friday, but the Cardinals ultimately came away with a 41-37 win. The win was doubly sweet for the Cardinals, who had lost several games in a row to Garden Plain, including two last year – one of which ended Conway Springs’ season in substate play.

TSnews The Garden Plain girls put up a good fight in their third basketball game in a month against the Cheney Cardinals, but it was the Cardinals who got the win, 41-33, on Jan. 30 at Cheney.

TSnews The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team used a fast start to pick up a nice bounce-back win at Cedar Vale/Dexter last Friday night, beating the Spartans 43-23. “Our team works hard on defense consistently and I’m so glad we came out strong offensively against Cedar Vale/ Dexter,” Argonia coach Dixie Brewster said.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball team lost to both Andover schools, Andover and Andover Central, last week. The home game versus Andover Central, played Friday, Feb.

Last Tuesday, the Cardinals struggled to make shots as they lost to Kingman 50-42. Conway Springs made just 11 of its 64 shots in the game (17 percent), including just seven of its 43 shots inside the arc (16 percent).
