CHENEY – Members of the Cheney Chamber of Commerce met for their regular monthly meeting last week, and continued working on plans for the Chamber’s annual soup and chili cook- off. In 2019, the Chamber joined with the school district to hold a community pep rally on Main Street and a Soup/Chili Cook-off prior to the pep rally where people walked up and down Main Street sampling soups and chilis made by local businesses and organizations.
GODDARD – It is a busy time at the Goddard Chamber of Commerce. The organization will be hosting the Goddard Fall Festival on the first weekend of October, including a concert by country music star John Michael Montgomery.
Members of the band Dear Friends perform on Stage 5 at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield this past week. Members of the band hail from Conway Springs and Clearwater, and have been playing together for many years. Mandolin player Brad Bennett of Conway Springs said it is always a joy to be on stage performing at the festival, and to be playing with friends around the campfires at the Walnut Valley Festival. The members of Dear Friends are part of a large camp at the festival that draws musicians from all over the country who come by to jam with the band.
TSnews CLEARWATER – Clearwater High School unveiled this year’s homecoming candidates. This year’s queen candidates are Elizabeth Tjaden, Harley Coen, Allison Clevenger and Izzy Buchman.
TSnews While hunting, two Garden Plain sisters bagged their own deer just three quarters of a mile from each other in the first weekend of September. Kennedie Pinkley, 10, got a deer with a rifle.
