Measles exposures reported in Wichita

Kansas county health officers issued warnings about four sites where people may have been exposed to measles, as the number of cases increases. Confirmed measles cases have spread outside the initial eight southwest Kansas counties, with one case confirmed in Wichita and another in Hutchinson.

GODDARD – The City of Goddard recently filled a newly-created position that will help the city better connect with residents and visitors. Danielle “Dani” Mueting has joined the city as its first community engagement director.

GARDEN PLAIN – During the Garden Plain City Council meeting May 7, the council voted unanimously to appoint Bryan Crownover as police chief. Crownover, previously a lieutenant, has been on the Garden Plain police force since 2022.

Foundation to provide matching grant for new pool

CHENEY – The Cheney Community Foundation will provide up to $10,000 in matching funds to help with the new aquatic center in Cheney. The Cheney City Council recently gave final approval to demolish the decades old pool and construct a new one in Swimming Pool Park.

Dates set for Sedgwick Co. wheat tour

SEDGWICK COUNTY – The annual Kansas State Extension Sedgwick County wheat plot tour will take place on Tuesday, May 27. Two starts are planned, starting at the Neville Andale plot, located one half-mile south of the intersection of 247th Street West and 21st Street North.
