TSnews CLEARWATER – During a 15-minute meeting on April 22, the Clearwater City Council voted unanimously to annex remaining property that makes up the Clearwater Cemetery. The council also held a brief discussion regarding controlled burns in Hammers Prairie Park.

Goddard approves duplex development

TSnews GODDARD – The Goddard City Council reversed course at its April 22 meeting and approved rezoning 47 acres at 183rd Street West and Maple for a duplex development. The initial request to rezone the property at the northeast corner of the intersection was not approved by the planning commission and was denied at the March 17 city council meeting.

Track feats honored in Clearwater

Staff report TSnews CLEARWATER – One of the best days in Clearwater track and field history was recognized at last Friday's home meet. This May marks the 20th anniversary of Clearwater athletes setting four school records and capturing the Class 4A State boys championship.

Another chance at love

TSnews GODDARD – A chance meeting at the Goddard Senior Center has led to love for two Sedgwick County residents. Gary Herrman and Carolyn (Weeks) Herrman met last October, and soon hit it off.
Carolyn and Gary Herrman are regulars at the Goddard Senior Center. They met there last October, and were married in early April.

Peitz retires from city, Cheney Fire Dept.

TSnews Jerry Peitz, who has given many years of service to the volunteer Cheney Fire Department – most recently as fire chief – has retired from the fire department after 32 years. “His unwavering commitment, tireless efforts, and steadfast leadership have been vital to our community’s safety and well-being,” Cheney city leaders said in an online statement.

Students win awards at Goddard art show

High school artists from Cheney High School, Eisenhower High School and Goddard High School displayed 115 works of Art at Dove Estates in Goddard from March 29 to April 1. They participated in the Goddard Woman’s Club art show, which also was sponsored by the Goddard Senior Center, Dove Estates and realtor Amanda Treadwell.
