K-State team wins Argonia Cup, sets world record height

Kansas State University’s Wildcat Rocketry team made history at the 2025 Argonia Cup by taking first place in the national collegiate rocketry competition and breaking a world record. K-State’s student team is the first from Kansas to win the competition – this year from among 20 collegiate teams – and the club’s competition rocket, “Purple Horizon,” broke the previous world record for altitude on a commercial- staged L-impulse rocket, reaching 35,439 feet and a maximum speed of 1,050 miles per hour.
