Body TSnews CHENEY – The Cheney City Council needed some time to discuss priorities, but eventually approved more than $200,000 in paving projects for this summer. The city spends roughly that amount each year on paving projects, which is worth about three blocks of street.

Body ARGONIA – The Kansas Municipal Gas Agency (KMGA) has announced that Argonia city clerk Tara Pierce is the newest member of its executive committee, succeeding Stephanie Ashby of Walton. A lifelong resident of Argonia, Pierce grew up on her family farm just south of town.

Foundation presents grants to educators

Body HAYSVILLE – Last month, the Haysville Education Foundation presented grants to teachers across the district. The grants ranged from $150 to $3,000, and covered a wide variety of projects, events and classroom needs.

Goddard school bond issue fails

Body A proposed $196 million bond in the Goddard School District failed to get approval from a majority of voters, according to unofficial results released on Tuesday night. There were 2,541 “no” votes and 2,053 “yes” votes, meaning the measure failed 55 percent to 45 percent.
